Finished Painting
The following tutorial series covers just under 3 hours. The full painting is available with colour coding and narration for full guidance.
At under 3 hours this is quite a short tutorial and a smaller demo piece. There is plenty of room for detail on this cute face, but the aim of this tutorial is to explore how you can create soft textures without needing to paint every hair.
Although I’m working on Velour paper and this is a nice opportunity to learn about that, you can also work along on a different surface using these techniques.
One of my favourite things to paint is the way sunlight casts light and shade over a subject. This short demo packs in a lot of techniques and information you will be able to apply to future projects.
