Rosie’s finished portrait 14″ x 14″
The background was easy, plain white.
I’ve got my line drawing faintly on the velour.

I start to block in the very darkest areas. This is where I really
draw the shapes and curves of the hair.

Before I get the whole dog blocked in I’ve
started some detail at the left so I’m not
leaning on my work.

Her eyes were so sweet.  I’ve really taken my
time on these using pastels as well as pastel
pencil so the very small sharp lines.
Wee nose in and now to fan all that hair
around for the chin area.
Almost there, once I’ve worked out the
colour pallette I’m using it helps speed
the rest of the painting up.  I find the
first ear takes me the longest until I’ve
got it flowing.
